Open call for writers, reviewers, artists, poets, songwriters, and photographers

Disarts.org wants to feature new voices and dynamic content from the local Bay Area disability community. We are interested in creative work (fiction or non-fiction) with a disability focus, as well as critiques and reviews from a disability perspective.

So, if you have a snarky take on disability arts programming or attended a really cool event or exhibition we want to know about it. Our platform is a place to regularly share your comments and opinions with a wider network and get credits for your resumé.

Please submit
1. A brief resume and links to any relevant websites
2. A sample of your work.
-Writers, please submit a writing sample of no more than 500 words.
-Photographers and other visual artists, please submit either a link to your online portfolio or 3 sample jpgs with captions/descriptions of your work.

We will feature a disabled writer, reviewer, artist, poet, songwriters, or photographer once a month during 2018. We are now open for submissions. We will be announcing themes for upcoming months. Watch this page and our blog.

Deadline for submissions is March 5th, 2018.

Free to submit but sadly we have no funds to pay for the work published at this time.

About Disarts.org:
DisabilityArts/Bay Area is a website that supports and champions all disabled artists and disability arts in the Bay Area. DisArts/BA also recognizes and celebrates the international disability arts community.

Our vision is a future for artists with disabilities that nurtures radical self-expression and inclusion, expands the creative community, and welcomes critical thinking.

We make the distinction between Disability Art, the expression of the disability experience, and the disability arts, the broad scope of artistic expression created by people with disabilities. All who have any claim to the arts and disability are welcome. Whether it is performances of dance or music, or a gallery exhibit DisArts/BA is a home. The fine arts have a place alongside art from recreation programs.
